Xifang Sun received her Ph.D degree in economics at Peking University in July, 2007. She is most interested in research on financial structure and economic development. Financial systems are highly heterogeneous across countries, some of which have active financial markets while some others rely on only a few banks to provide financial services. She seeks to understand the causes for the difference in financial structure and its possible effect on economic development. Her other research interests include the institutional evolution in transitional economies, especially in China.
