This forum will feature Douglas Holtz-Eakin and Austan Goolsbee, senior economic advisors to John McCain and Barack Obama, respectively. A panel of Columbia faculty will question the advisors in a debate style format. Austan Goolsbee is a Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago. Professor Goolsbee has advised Barack Obama on economic issues since his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, and is currently one of his senior advisors. He also serves on the Congressional Budget Office’s Panel of Economic Advisors. Douglas Holtz-Eakin is a Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. He was director of the Congressional Budget Office from 2003 to 2005 and chief economist of the President’s George W. Bush’s Council of Economic Advisers from 2001 to 2003.
